The first piece in the series: "With These Hands." Supporting every sculpture in this series, are these dark, Gothic, twisted, tortured hands, representing the pain, struggle, hard work, sorrow and loss that is so often the background to everyone's life. This particular sculpture, with the 'Michelangelo-esque' torso in the foreground, was Alan's first bronze, made 5 years after the loss of his wife. He regards it has the rebirth of his creative life.
